When I joined NBD last year. I had goals, but no way to achieve them. After my first session with Susanne, I knew what I needed to do and how I would achieve the weight loss I have been trying to get for years. After seeing her every week for 6 months I have lost over 45 lbs and I have a plan to lose the rest of the weight I want to. Susanne is great at adapting to different ability levels and desired training paths.

In conjunction with my personal training, I have been taking weekly LGT with Marco. Movestrong is a class that challenges everyone at any fitness level. The class is fun while still being a great workout. Marco is a great motivator that cares about all of his clients. He knows how hard to push people to get them to their goals. Build a body is also a great class that get some more personal attention.

I have been to many gyms over the last 20 years. Never getting the results I wanted. Too much weight training, no real classes, Personal Trainers weren’t really that attentive. I was overweight in my late 20s where I got to 230lbs. When I came into NBD I did not know what to expect. I was hesitant to try the LGT classes but I was motivated to make a change. I have had several very good trainers over the last 2 years. Marco, Osei, Patty, Kathi S, Rick, Peterson, Tanya. They are all excellent in giving you proper technique and advice. They motivate you in trying new things that you have not tried before. They instill confidence in me that I never knew was there. I have seen more results in the last 2 years than I have the previous 18. I lost fatty weight and replaced with more lean muscle. With concentration on Core muscles, I have alleviated most of my lower back issues. My quads, hamstrings, hips, lower back & stomach are now all stronger due to training at NBD. I am now at 215lbs with more lean muscle. My next goal is to get down to about the 200-205lb mark.

We take Peterson’s (Petey Sonson Paquiot) Boot Camp and TRX classes every week. He is the best- Always walking around to correct our form and to give encouragement and despite the hard work, we look forward to his classes. In addition, he is sensitive to injuries and physical limitations and always has a modification for every exercise. The amount time he spends setting up a rotational (that changes every 4 weeks) Boot Camp is amazing.

I have been a pretty active man in my mid 50’s and did not pay attention to my physical fitness. As single digit golfer I noticed I started losing distance and was becoming very tired after 13-14 holes. Playing from the forward tees was looming in my near future. I started working with a variety of trainers and soon was working with Marco focusing on body weight and cardio. Marco’s enthusiasm for what he does is infectious and his workouts are very effective. I am a member of NBD from 2011, I took a pair of cardio classes maybe 2 times a week, last year I decided to start running and signed my first half marathon in the spring of this year, I knew I needed to exercise other areas of my body That is when I decide to hire a Personal Training. Wow…that’s me holding a plank position (increased from 5 to 40 seconds).

I returned to NBD in April 2015 from a medical freeze bringing the following baggage with me: overweight, increased joint stiffness from breast cancer med, and a broken shoulder with plate and screws from an accident in a park (five months of physical therapy with limited motion in shoulder).

NBD Manager, Chris assigned Peterson as my personal trainer.

Peterson is professional, courteous, and highly motivated. The sessions are fun and always safe. He thoroughly knows all the equipment and points out how to use the correct techniques (which most people don’t know). Listening is a very important asset which he does well. No matter how small a problem you may have, Peterson will help solve it.

I think everyone should try a personal trainer just once. Your life can start changing for the better in just one session.

In this month of Thanksgiving, I have to acknowledge all the work of Rick Martins to help me become a stronger, healthier person. Though I joined NBD in 2011, I resisted personal training until I saw the fabulous work/results that Rick achieved with my husband after serious back surgery.
At 64 years old, I am probably in the best physical shape of my adult life. More importantly, with Rick’s help, we are addressing those issues which can be problematic as one ages, i.e.. balance, which has always been an issue with me. The results are clear and I never feel like I am getting a pre-programmed workout, the same as every other client. I have seen Rick work with others, and my husband, and every workout is planned for the individual and varies constantly so you work everything and are not bored. I also love his kettle bell class and make sure to complete at least one a week. This has become a central part of my health/life plan and one I do not plan to give up.

I have been a member of NBD since I moved to New Jersey in 2011. I was impressed with the facility and the unique classes. In 2013, I signed up for LGT as a way to take my workouts to the next level and in 2014, I began personal training. By May of 2014, I felt like I was in the best shape of my life….and then I got pregnant! I worked out throughout my entire pregnancy with the help of Osei Bonsu and Rick Martins. My son, Mason, was born in January and I was back in the gym four weeks later. By June, I had lost all but 10 pounds, but I was frustrated. I was having a hard time juggling a baby, work and exercise- and I really wanted to lose the rest of my ‘baby’ weight. I began training with Osei once a week and taking his 6 am Total Body class on Mondays and Wednesdays. My workouts with Osei have been challenging and he is always pushing me to work harder. Since I began training with Osei, I have lost the last of the ‘baby’ weight and then some. With Osei’s help, I have set new goals for myself and I look forward to continuing my journey at NBD!

I’ve been a member at NBD since it opened. I used to join a new gym every year to keep me motivated and keep things fresh. I find that with NBD, because their programs are constantly changing, I can stay motivated and focused to show up and work out (and I don’t have to switch gyms to do this!) Their Large Group Training (LGT) classes change every 2 weeks, so it challenges me to push harder. Trainers like Kathi Sottosanti, Osei Bonsu, Rick Martins and Peterson Paquiot are personable and professional, and keep their classes fun. I moved to Mountainside in 2010. Finding a gym that had what I was used to and what I was looking for was very important to me. I loved NBD the moment I stepped foot inside. One of the first friends I met there was Kathy Claudino. This was before she was an employee @NBD. At first, most of our conversations were about hair😀 but throughout the years, I have learned so much from talking to Kathy and watching what she does! I have watched her transform her beautiful self.

I have always been a “class” person! I love them! The music, the energy, the people! I love them😃 and I especially love “Power” which I faithfully take with Kathi Sottosanti weekly!

Three years ago I had my third child. It was very challenging to lose the last 10-15lbs. In April 2015, I did the 30 day Isagenix cleanse, thanks to the encouragement from both Kathy Claudino and Kathi Sottosanti. It lead me to success and of course, there was much guidance and support from both of these ladies. So now it is seven months later, I have three children and turned 40 last month. I feel good but I want to feel great! I am ready for another challenge. I begin training with Kathy Claudino next week. I am extremely THANKFUL for both the Kath(iy) s…that’s what I like to call them.😍They have taught me so much about nutrition, exercising and weight lifting thus far!!! I started at NBD thinking this was a good gym for me to take some group classes and cardio. Then I met Kathy Claudino and Kathi Sottosanti. I quickly realized I was getting so much more than what I thought. Kathy Claudino has helped me understand how important nutrition is when trying to build lean muscle. She has great meal planning tips and is so supportive! Quickly after following her training sessions and nutritional cleansing I was reaching my fitness goals. She taught me how to train each muscle group to get the most out of my workouts. She has me set new goals and trains me hard to reach them.

Group fitness classes at NBD are amazing also. Group Power with Kathi Sottosanti is my favorite. She has created a fitness movement in those classes. Every week she motivates, supports, and pushes us to be stronger. Kathi’s passion for fitness and overall health comes through in all her classes.

Once I started working with both these ladies I started seeing results and I am enjoying working out. They both are always there for support, motivation, or just to push you a bit out of your comfort place. I finally have found a gym and a support system to help me stay strong and healthy.

I would like to commend the professionalism and dedication of Marco Ingelisa who has been my personal trainer for over four months. I had been recovering from back injuries and had transitioned from physical therapy to becoming active in training at No Body Denied. I was slowly increasing my strength but felt I still needed professional guidance in dealing with range of motion limitations and likewise wanted to maintain weight loss and being fit at my optimum level. I am middle aged and realize the great benefit in staying physical fit. It also gives me positive energy that is contagious both at work and with the people I interact with on a daily basis. After working out on my own for one month, I had noticed Marco teaching a group lesson and liked his positive energy and interaction with the group; giving high-fives to all at the end of his session. I immediately realized that he would be ideal for my long-term goal of becoming more flexible and strong, and that he would encourage my progress in a positive way. I originally, signed up for 5 weeks but due to Marco’s patience and progressive layering of higher levels of exercises and strength training, I noticed I was starting to burn calories more effectively and was seeing significant progress in my flexibility with his combination of calisthenics and weight training work; challenging me on a full level of physical fitness. I also saw improved definition and stamina, and have been befitting personal training now for over four months. The results were great; culminating to my recent vacation to the Caribbean, and being in the best shape for snorkeling and scuba classes.

I would highly recommend a personal training to anyone who has had physical injury or finds the have limitations in their mobility. The results are well worth the effort put in and I would like to thank Marco for an excellent job of encouragement and support, exemplifying the professional staff and team spirit represented at No Body Denied.

I have been going to NBD for many years and Kathy Claudino has always been one of the trainers I looked up to. Her body was where I wanted my body to be every bit of Fit and Strong. But I was afraid to train with anyone even her. I has received 5 free sessions to use , because one of my friends joined. So I decided to train and I pick Kathy Claudino. I recently trained with her for those 5 sessions and she changed my life. I never through that I was strong enough to dead lift 10 pounds, but after I started to get stronger, while working with Kathy every Saturday for those 5 sessions she got me to Dead Lift 120 + lbs. with ease. Kathy Claudio started helping me change my food and workouts the moment I joined NBD in January 2015. Prior to joining NBD, I was the typical cardio queen. I ran and cycled 4 – 5 times per week and only picked up weights if I had extra time. I always tried to eat low carb, but never understood why I had such a hard time getting the scale to budge.

Initially, Kathy helped me tweak my daily diet with small doable changes. She actually had me eat MORE food. She also encouraged me to lift weights more often, lift heavier, and relax a bit on the cardio. I started to see a difference immediately. During these early months, I decided to complete a 30 day Isagenix cleanse which helped me get to the next level of what I was looking to achieve. After the cleanse Kathy helped me build my daily eating schedule making sure I was getting in enough protein, good fats, etc. This was so important to ensure I didn’t fall back into old habits. I knew the next step to make big changes was to start working out one-on-one with Kathy. I can honestly say it is the best decision I have made and the best money I have spent. My time with Kathy each week is one of the best hours of my week. I look forward to our sessions. She has taught me so much.

Learning how to lift weights and lift heavy has made me look forward to my workouts so much more because I can see how each workout is changing my body. I used to do cardio at least 5 hours per week and would feel exhausted. I am down to just an hour or two of cardio each week with much more weight training. I am able to eat so much more and I have more energy!

Kathy has been so supportive and motivating. I have the upmost respect for her. She changed her own body and developed an expertise that is admirable. She is living proof that we can make significant changes to our bodies with the right nutrition and workouts. I have worked out with personal trainers before and Kathy is by far the best. I get so much out of our sessions. She goes above and beyond and her nutrition advice on top of the workouts is the key to success. My husband and I joined NBD in mid-March, 2010. Although somewhat reluctant, knowing that I did not really enjoy exercising “machines”, I decided to give it a try.  Kathi became my trainer. One month later I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. In the beginning I wanted to tell no one because I did not want to deal with the endless questions I knew people would have. However, I never hesitated discussing everything with Kathi. When I told her I wanted to try ad continue working with her during the many months of Chemo and then surgery, she agreed. Kathi immediately called the trainer, who works with cancer patients at Overlook Hospital, to get a better idea of what my problems and requirements might be. From there she developed a program that would suit my specific needs for this difficult time.  I actually looked forward to moving on, knowing that I would not be alone.

She kept me sane! She kept me going. She even helped my husband through this by just being there for me.

On days when I really didn’t feel like doing very much she made me laugh and get back to work. I left each session more energized than when I had come in. The 18 weeks of chemo passed more quickly than I would have thought. Now that I have had my mastectomy, Kathi is back in there fighting with me and pushing me to do just a bit more so I can accomplish what I need to do.

My oncologist calls Kathi my guardian angel and wishes all her patients could be in this type of exercise program during their chemo. I agree with her, Kathi really is my guardian angel on Earth.

I have been personal training with Luis for some time now and noticed a drastic change in my strength, appearance, stability and endurance. He is able to give a challenging workout each session and stays encouraging throughout the entire session.

Prior to training with Luis I had always wanted to run. It was a challenge for me to keep my endurance up and run without stopping. Now, I am capable of running five miles and I am certain that Luis deserves all the credit for making me able to do so.

Training with Luis will allow you to notice the changes you wish to see in yourself. I look forward to the intense workouts that I receive from Luis because they in turn pay off in the long run. I have been training with Luis for about a year and during my experience with him he has always been very professional, a strong motivator and encouraging trainer. Luis is passionate about what he does and it shows. He has this energy about him that makes you want to work harder, set goals for yourself and push yourself to new limits. For so long, I felt that the athletic inside of me was gone for good but training with Luis has brought that athlete back; it’s been a great experience.

Luis is extremely knowledgeable and has an extensive and impressive training background. Having been an athlete for most of my life, I wasn’t convinced that another person could inspire and motivate me to regain my competitive edge, but I found with Luis that he did just that and it was really a remarkable experience. He’s competitive and determined and brought out strengths and a certain confidence I didn’t even know I had within me. I think it’s really important for a trainer to be able to do that for their clients. Training with Luis has brought back my passion for fitness and health which is something that was always really important to me.

Luis is extremely hard working and tough but he also has a very caring side. He always made it a point to follow up with me regarding nutrition as well as tend to any injuries I may have been nursing. Training has had a very positive impact on my life. I eat better, I exercise 4-5 times a week, and my body has become stronger and more defined. It’s made such a difference and I feel awesome. I have more energy and my overall mood is so much happier. He’s really given me something to look forward to as well as new ideas for continuing this progress.

I owe Luis a tremendous thank you for working with me, even at my most difficult times, for inspiring me, pushing me, believing in me and caring for me the way he did. He’s an amazing trainer who I would not only train with again but I would definitely encourage others to train with him as well.

Luis Ruiz is one of the best personal trainers around. He is professional, caring and will push you to limits that you thought you never had, I know this from experience. Luis has not only helped me lose 30 pounds but I have become stronger, leaner, more agile, better conditioned and he has taught me that there is no quitting or giving up not only at the gym but also in life. He has given me confidence and has fueled my drive for competition. Because of him I have the idea planted in my head that I can do and beat anyone or anything no matter how big or how strong the person or obstacle is. It’s because of all those reasons that I’m constantly going back to the gym training 5-6 times a week and eating healthier.

Luis has helped me in so many ways that no one will ever understand. I have been with Luis for a year now at the time that I met Luis I was going thru a lot of personal adversities in my life and by having him around so much has changed for the better. Luis took me under his wing and has become one of my greatest mentors I look up to Luis in so many ways, he is an inspiration to me.

When I’m with Luis it’s constantly a learning experience. He has taught me and showed me so much that some times I don’t even know what to do with all the knowledge that he has given me but I keep it stored and use them as tools in the gym and in life. He has taught me that there is no such thing as I CAN’T or I WON’T those words no longer exist in my vocabulary all I ever say is I CAN and I WILL there will never be any quit in me. He has also helped me become calm, patient, disciplined, a problem solver and a overall better person.

In closing Luis is not only just a great personal trainer but he’s a great person. If more people were like him this world would be a better place. He is intelligent, professional, honest, caring, kind and you can always depend on him. But at the same time he will kick your butt into shape. There might be be some days where you might say some vulgar things under your breathe or have some bad thoughts about him, I have possibly been there a few times, but at the end of the day you realize that all he is doing is helping you, pushing you and showcasing your potentials and that’s when you get to see the results that you’ve been looking and working so hard for.

I want to tell you three things about Luis, and then I will back up up a bit.

Number One: He has helped me to transform my life and to experience ME in a more fulfilling way.

Number Two: He will always take care of me to make sure I don’t get hurt, and teaches me how to do everything so that I not only understand what it will do for my body, but why it is so important to do it correctly.

Number Three: He looks tough (and is tough), but is a huge softie inside.

I joined NBD about 1 year ago, and was convinced that I didn’t need or want any personal training. I have been a life – long runner and skier, and have practiced yoga for years; I thought I was in great shape. That was until I met and started training with Luis. After one session with him, I thought I was dying, knew I couldn’t do a push-up or a pull-up and quickly learned that I was NOT all around conditioned.

Now it is one year later, and I literally feel 10 years younger. I am strong, knowledgeable, confident and feel like my body matches my mind (since I don’t act my age anyway). I honestly look forward to working out with Luis he pushes me in a way I could never push myself and always makes me want to “finish strong”. He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, focused, motivating and fun (yes fun). I am doing things I never thought I would ever do; bench pressing 90 pounds, dong countless push-ups, completing pull-ups without the assist and most importantly feeling great about my mind, body and spirit. Luis has given me these gifts; they can’t be bought or packaged, but I am so grateful for them and for him.
